Sicayab-Bucana is fast becoming an eco-tourism destination in Dapitan, Zamboanga Peninsula. Its cliffs is attracting enthusiast rock climbers while photographers marvel around its dramatic rock formations especially during sunset. It’s beginning to be a popular venue for pre-nuptial shoots.

Rizal Landing Site Monument in Dapitan
Today is Jose Rizal Day, commemorating his death in 1896. As a tribute here is his monument in Dapitan. He landed at Sta Cruz Beach 7pm in July 17, 1892 which started his exile in Dapitan. He was accompanied by Captain Delgras and three artillery men as they walk through Sta Cruz street with a “farol de combate” (a lantern) to Casa Real where he was presented to Spanish Military Governor of Dapitan at that time, Don Ricardo Carnicero.
Hagonoy Island
With only a 30-minute pumpboat ride from Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Hagonoy Island is a wonderful respite from the busy mainland of Bislig. It’s a small pearl shaped Island the size 4 basketball courts. The beach is soft and powdery and the water is crystal clear.
